Domain Validated SSL Certificates are no-frills, encryption-only certificates. In order to get a Domain Validated SSL Certificate you just have to prove that you own the domain by responding to an email or phone call using the information in the WHOIS record of the domain. Organization Validation

Orgnization Validation is when both the company and the domain are vetted. The domain is checked to make sure it is legitimate. The SSL certificate issuer will check that the company or indivudual who owns the domain knows and confirms that a request for a certificate has been placed and that the person ordering is allowed to do so. Organization Validation takes longer than Domain Validation but less time than Extended Validation.
